According to USA Today, five New York Rangers players have been named to the final rosters for the 4 Nations Face-Off international tournament.
The rosters were finalized and unveiled on Wednesday, Dec. 4, as the NHL prepares for its first best-on-best tournament since the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. While, the United States, Canada, Finland and Sweden initially announced their first six players in June, the rest of the 23-player teams have finally been secured.
All of the players selected had to have been on NHL rosters as of Monday. Here is who has been named to the February tournament for the New York Rangers:
USA Roster
Defenseman Adam Fox was selected for USA as a part of their initial six. He joined fellow-defensemen Quinn Hughes with Vancouver and Charlie McAvoy with Boston in the June choices.
Blueshirt alternate captain Chris Kreider is the Rangers' most recent addition to the team USA forwards. The power-play specialist making the roster should come as no surprise.
Forward Vincent Trocheck — who currently has 12 points in the Rangers' 2024-25 campaign — was also announced to join Fox and Kreider on the USA roster.
Also worth mentioning is the fact that while five Rangers have been named to the tournament rosters, more than half of them will remain playing for America.
Finland Roster
While he was not included in Finland's initial six, Kaapa Kakko was selected to represent his home country.
The Turku native should plenty of fun on the ice with what looks to be a strong, two-way team.
Sweden Roster
While he has had his struggles as of late, Rangers' veteran Mika Zibanejad was one of the initial six selected for Sweden's roster.
The other forwards first selected were Filip Forsberg of the Nashville Predators and William Nylander with the Maple Leafs.
Hopefully participating in the tournament will change Zibanejad's down season to be on the rise.
