The New York Rangers played a pretty low event game against the Detroit Red Wings, a game in which the team was out-shot 42-19, but things ratcheted up after the final horn blew. The Rangers pulled Jonathan Quick as they tried to tie the game in the final moments of the game, and after the game was over Mason Appleton fired the puck into the vacated net. That set off Quick, and he made a beeline for the Red Wings forward,

Quick turned back the clock in the loss
Quick was sensational for the Blueshirts in the loss, and he made 40 saves on 42 shots faced. It was the most saves he'd made in a single game since 2022, and the 22nd career game in which he'd made at least 40 saves. Quick dropped to 3-2-0 on the season, and he entered the evening with a 1.26 goals against average and .950 save percentage which will increase ever so slightly. It is a shame the Rangers wasted such an exemplary performance, and he did everything he could to try and earn his team at least point in the second half of a back-to-back.
Offense looks listless at home once again
The lone goal of the game for the Blueshirts came on the power play, and it was scored by Mika Zibanejad. The Rangers have scored one goal or fewer in seven of their first nine home games, and as a result they are just 1-7-1 at The Garden. They have scored just 13 goals in nine games, three of which have come on the power play. The Rangers have also surrendered 28 goals in that span, and that differential is something that needs to change if the Blueshirts want to have meaningful success this season.
What's next for the New York Rangers?
The Rangers are heading back on the road, a place they have been very successful this season, and will be in action again on Tuesday vs. the Vegas Golden Knights. That game will kick off a road trip which also includes stops in Colorado against the Avalanche, and in Utah against the Mammoth. The Rangers will then return home for a game vs. the St. Louis Blues, and then head on the road for a pair of games around the Thanksgiving holiday.
