When it comes to the New York Rangers, they always seemed to have no issue in finding their long-term starting goaltender. Through their illustrious history, there have been plenty of incredible goalies, such as Eddie Giacomin and Mike Richter. For Rangers fans in this lifetime, they will always remember the goalie called "The King." Of course, we're talking about Henrik Lundqvist.

Lundqvist entered the scene at Madison Square Garden in 2005, taking over as the starting goalie for the Rangers, and never looked back. He not only became one of the best goalies Rangers fans have seen since Richter, but he showed that he was one of the NHL's top goalies of this century. Not to mention, his play helped bring them to the Stanley Cup Final in 2014.

While Lundqvist had plenty of great moments throughout his Rangers career, there was one week where he took over the franchise's record book. In March 2014, Lundqvist set two franchise records, both of whom are nowhere near attainable for any other goalie anytime soon. Yes, even Igor Shesterkin.

Henrik Lundqvist sets Rangers' all-time wins record on March 18, 2014

On March 18, 2014, the Rangers were on the road to take on the Ottawa Senators. Lundqvist was sitting at 301 wins, tied with Richter for most wins by a goalie in Rangers history. After trailing in the first period, the Rangers scored four goals in the second, giving Lundqvist a huge cushion to do fend off the Senators. The Rangers went on to win the game 8-4.

Lundqvist officially became the Rangers' all-time winningest goalie with 302 victories at that point. Lundqvist stopped 35-of-39 shots faced to officially break the record.

"It's an incredible feeling," said Lundqvist, h/t ESPN. "A proud feeling. Being up there with those guys that have played for the organization for a lot of years and the franchise has been around for so long, it's kind of surreal. I want to keep going obviously, and hopefully I have a lot of years left to keep winning."

Lundqvist had over five more years of winning games for the Rangers before retiring. The all-time wins record is set at 459. It might be a long, long time for any goalie to get anywhere near close to his record.

Henrik Lundqvist passes Eddie Giacomin on Rangers' all-time shutout record on March 22, 2014

Less than a week later, Lundqvist set another Rangers record. The Rangers ended their three-game road trip against the rival New Jersey Devils. It was only fitting that Lundqvist would break a franchise record against one of their hated rivals.

The Rangers picked up the 2-0 victory over the Devils, with Lundqvist stopping all 21 shots faced. With this, Lundqvist recorded his 50th shutout with the Rangers to officially pass Giacomin for the most in franchise history. After the game, Lundqvist joked that he was happy he broke both records in the same week just so he doesn't have to hear about it any longer.

"We might as well do it in one week so we don't have to talk about it for a while," Lundqvist said, h/t ESPN. "Just a great feeling. This game was so important, and the points were important."

The official record for all-time Rangers shutouts is at 64. After the 2025-26 season, Shesterkin has just 22 career shutouts, so he has a lot of work to do to try and get anywhere near Lundqvist's mark.

Rangers fans know how great of a goalie Lundqvist was. But it might fly under the radar now that Lundqvist broke two franchise records in less than a week. Two records, mind you, that may never be broken again.
