Adam Fox
New York has been lucky to have some great defensemen over the years. Ryan McDonagh and Brian Leetch come to mind the second you start to think about the key names the Rangers have had over the years, but there's a new one that the Blueshirts faithful have started to adopt as their own. It's a fellow New Yorker and a boyhood Blueshirts supporter in Adam Fox. A man who forced his way out of two organizations to arrive in New York, it's always a feel-good story.
Initially drafted by the Calgary Flames in the third round of the 2016 NHL entry draft, he was traded to Carolina ahead of the 2018-19 season but returned to the NCAA, where he played his collegiate hockey. Fox is an alumnus of Harvard, where he refused to leave until Chris Drury traded two second-round picks to acquire the now Norris Trophy winner. He was one of the best prospects in the world at the time and has since fulfilled his massive potential with the Blueshirts.
Fox chose to come here to New York because he wanted to play for the Rangers. He grew up loving this team, suffering with us in 2014, and celebrating the roster's success. He's a Rangers fan who is enjoying living his boyhood dream. How many of us have wanted to play for the Rangers since childhood? We're lucky to have someone who grew up loving this organization playing for the team.
Since getting to the Rangers, Fox has become one of the NHL's dominant defensemen. With 377 career games, Fox has scored 53 goals and 272 assists for 325 career points. He's turned into a perennial Norris contender and one of the most offensively gifted blueliners in the league. Capable of quarterbacking a powerplay, playing great defense, and winning games on his own, Blueshirts faithful need to be grateful for their star defender.
