The New York Rangers are back home at Madison Square Garden following a decisive victory on the road against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday, and both the Blueshirts and Capitals will face-off in the second game of a back-to-back. It is a great opportunity for the Rangers to test themselves against a team that gave them trouble last season, and the hope is that positive momentum keeps on flowing in New York.

Here are your three Blueshirts to watch this evening against the Capitals.
Jonathan Quick
This season marks Quick's third as a member of the Blueshirts, and the soon-to-be 40 year old aims to prove he can still be a reliable backup. Quick appeared in 24 contests last season and went 11-7-2 with a .893 save percentage and a 3.17 goals against average which was a worse performance than his inaugural campaign on Broadway. Tonight mark's his season debut, and it's an opportunity for him to help his team, and give Igor Shesterkin a well deserved night off.
Artemi Panarin
Panarin has had a bit of a slow start to the 2025-26 season and enters game four still looking for his first goal of the season. He's only take five shots on goal which is a low number considering Mika Zibanejad and Alexis Lafrenière each have 12 thus far. The Blueshirts' pending free agent has contributed two assists thus far, and he will face off against his compatriot and all-time leading goal scorer Alex Ovechkin tonight. Maybe this will get Panarin going, and look to see if he can get more involved in the team's offense at 5v5.
Vladislav Gavrikov
Gavrikov was acquired to stabilize things on the Blueshirts' blue line, and so far he's quietly been a great addition. In three games he's got a 52.23 GF%, a 51.39 CF%, and a 50.71 xGF%. He's yet to record a point yet, but offense was never expected to be a big part of his game. The Capitals have a number of players who are dangerous offensive contributors, and this could be a busy night for Gavrikov and the rest of the defense as they try and protect the house with a backup goalie in net.
