Players to watch

Igor Shesterkin

If this is another Igor Shesterkin start, this is a great opportunity for the franchise goaltender to get back on track. After back-to-back unusual and disappointing starts for No. 31, he is owning his poor performance and is eager to get back to his usual self.

Vancouver has a great offensive unit, with a lot of firepower. The Rangers defensive unit also needs to step up from their previous showings, but it is solely on Shesterkin to shut down the Canucks.

Braden Schneider

This season has not been kind to Braden Schneider. The same can be said for Carson Soucy, and the pairing itself has continuously failed.

In the Calgary game specifically, Schneider and Sousy were on the ice for three of the five goals scored on the night. With eyes set toward Vancouver, the clock is ticking on how much more of a leash head coach Mike Sullivan gives him. It might be time to start looking toward external sources to round out the defensive unit.

J.T. Miller

It is time for the emotionally charged return of J.T. Miller in Vancouver. After being an integral part of their team over the last six seasons, including almost all of the 2024-25 season before being traded back to the Rangers, the Canuck faithful will hopefully open their arms to him.

Miller, now as the captain of the Rangers, is trying to be the leader the Rangers need to put together a winning formula. More often than not, when a former Rangers player returns to Madison Square Garden, they tend to have one of the best games of that season. Let's see what happens when a former Canuck enters Rogers Arena.
