It isn't quite silly season, yet, but that doesn't mean that we can speculate in May when there's very little going on in hockey for the teams that aren't still in playoff contention. One such team was just eliminated, and Vincent Trocheck has wasted no time in getting the rumor mill churning once again.
Trocheck leaves cheeky comment on Instagram
Brock Faber and the Minnesota Wild were recently eliminated in the playoffs, and the budding blueliner and US Olympian took the time to reflect on what was a noteworthy season. Trocheck, who was his teammate in Milan, took the time to comment on his post.

We know that Minnesota was a team that Trocheck was willing to go to. We also know that Trocheck is no stranger to fueling trade rumors... specifically with the Wild. Frank Servalli recently put out his initial offseason Big Board for potential trade pieces, and Trocheck was fifth on his list.
Minnesota remains a top landing spot for Trocheck
The Wild's center depth was tested in the playoffs after Joel Eriksson Ek was injured against the Dallas Stars, and that set off a chain reaction which resulted in Ryan Hartman as the No. 1 center, Danila Yurov as the No. 2 center, Michael McCarron as the No. 3 center, and Nico Sturm manning the fourth line.
This is not to say that adding Trocheck to the mix would have drastically altered their playoff fate, but he certainly would have been a better option to run the top line. He'd also be a great fit behind a healthy Eriksson Ek, and that would make the Wild a better overall team.
Given his familiarty with many of the players on the squad, including General Manager Bill Guerin, it is fair to say that the Wild are a team that will check in with President and General Manager Chris Drury on Trocheck's availability.
Trocheck has two years left on his seven-year deal signed with the Rangers, and has a bargain of a cap hit at $5.625 million. The Wild were a team that Trocheck was willing to go to, but if the Rangers are unable to make a deal work, there are only 10 teams in which the veteran center can block a trade to.
