What Rangers fans had to say about Sam Rosen and his legacy

Blue Line Station's own Jake Mozarsky was onsite at Madison Square Garden on Saturday talking to various members of the New York Rangers' fan base. Here's his own account on just how much Sam Rosen means to the fans.

The New York Rangers have a legendary history, and right in the center of it is Sam Rosen. Rosen has been the voice of the Blueshirts since 1984, and after this season, he will be retiring. On Saturday afternoon against the Vancover Canucks, New York honored him and picked up a 5-3 victory.

Every Rangers fan has their Sam Rosen moment or some particular call that they remember, and on Saturday, fans had only good things to say about the legendary broadcaster to contributor Jake Mozarsky.

Favorite Calls

Rosen has a lot of famous calls, but one that comes up over and over again is "It's a power play goal!" While he did not get to say that on Saturday — the Rangers did not have a real power play in the contest — he has called 2,467 in his career.

"It's every game. 'It's a power play goal!' That's what it's all about with Sam. He's just one of a kind and brings the fans into spirit."
Sylvain Gaboury, Rangers Fan.
"And this one will last a lifetime!"
George, Rangers fan.

But, Rosen's calls go further than that. One fan mentioned Artemi Panarin's winner against the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs, which can be found below.

Regardless of whether they could think of a specific call or not, fans honored the announcer that gave them so many memories over the years.

"Whenever the Rangers score, it's a great experience, and I just love the guy."
Ethan Gaboury, Rangers fan

Though it has been a season full of ups and downs, the Blueshirts honored Sam the best way they could with a win. While New York only had 12 shots in the contest, it tallied five goals. Fans discussed what it meant to get a win for Rosen.

"They had to win for [Sam]. I think it's just fantastic."
Rob, Rangers fan

New York has 11 games remaining, and all fans had a similar answer to how it can send Rosen out right: win games and make the postseason.

The Rangers resume action on Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Kings in their first game of a three-game road trip. In a tight wild card race, the Blueshirts should keep Rosen in the back of their minds as they look to extend the season.

For all Rangers fans, they are grateful for Rosen, who from 1984 to now, have given them moments that will last a lifetime.
