The New York Rangers need a win, and they need it bad. Ideally, they'll earn one in play against the St. Louis Blues on Sunday, Dec. 15.

With a current record of 15-13-1, the Rangers are quickly approaching the mark where their losses could overtake their number of wins. To prevent this, the Blueshirts really need to win as many games as possible — and as quickly as possible.

The Blueshirts first chance comes against the St. Louis Blues (14-14-3). The Blues are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss against the Dallas Stars in a Saturday night matchup. Compared to the most recent Rangers game, New York seemingly imploded when hosting the Los Angeles Kings at Madison Square Garden. They lost 5-1.

Records aside, Jordan Kyrou is obviously the opposing team's player to watch ahead of the Dec. 15 matchup.

Jordan Kyrou

Right winger Kyrou is currently the team leader for the Blues. With a team-high 26 points, the Toronto, Canada native has appeared in all 31 games. Across his 26 points, he has tallied 12 goals and 14 assists. (+4)

He was the second round (No. 5) pick for St. Louis in 2016, playing his entire NHL career so far with the Blues. The details of his contract are as follows:

Kyrou signed an eight-year, $65 million contract with the Blues on Sept. 13, 2022 that begins in the 2023-24 season. He earned an average annual value of $8.125 million at age 23 after setting NHL career-highs in goals (27), assists (48) and points (75), and tying for third on St. Louis with 19 power-play points. Kyrou had nine points, including seven goals (tied for second on the Blues) in 12 Stanley Cup Playoff games to help St. Louis advance to the Western Conference Second round, a six-game loss to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche, according to NHL.com.
