Hockey is played on the ice, but Filip Chytil has proven himself to be ice cold.

Against the Anaheim Ducks, Chytil finished with four shots on seven attempts, to go along with a team-high four high-danger scoring chances, in 16:31 TOI. That’s 1:24 more than usual No. 1 center Mika Zibanejad. He also tallied an assist for Will Cuylle's goal.

It was Chytil who led the way and made a massive impact in the 2-1 win, easily earning himself the MVP of the game.

"You want your center to be driving the line," linemate Cuylle said of Chytil. "He's been great all year. His speed. He just flies. It feels like he gets a breakaway every game. Especially as a winger, we're just trying to find him on the breakouts, and he kind of drives the whole play for our whole team up the ice."

Chytil agreed to a four-year, $17.75 million contract (average annual value of $4.4375 million) with the Rangers on March 29, 2023. He was the No. 21 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft coming off a season that included seven goals in 20 Stanley Cup Playoff games to help the Rangers reach the Eastern Conference Final while emerging as the center of the fav-favorite "Kid Line" with with Alexis Lafreniere and Kaapo Kakko.

Fans across social media have also raved about his performance, with it also being important to note that Chytil finished the 2022-23 season with 45 points (22 goals, 23 assists) in 74 games after not scoring more than 14 goals or getting more than 14 assists in any of his previous four NHL seasons.

He is well on his way to another 40-plus point season.
