Not only is Madison Square Garden arguably the most iconic venue in the NHL, but it is also undoubtedly the easiest to get to via public transportation.
It is quite literally so easy to get to MSG for a home New York Rangers game via public transportation mainly because the site is actually built on top of Penn Station. For those unaware, Penn Station is one of the busiest and most centrally connected transportation hubs in the country — with many subway stops providing quick, cheap and direct access for fans.
Here's why MSG is an especially convenient site for league fans to access.
Yet another reason MSG remains on top
Several of the major and most commonly used subway lines stop right at or near Penn Station, making it quick and easy to get to MSG from all over NYC.

For instance, the red line (1, 2, 3) stops directly underneath MSG at 34th street, with the stop being literally called "Penn Station."
The blue line (A, C, E) stops right next to MSG on 8th Avenue and the orange and yellow lines also stop right nearby via Herald Square.
It also serves fans who utilize the Long Island Railroad, NJ Transit, and if you really wanted to you could take an Amtrak train from Albany, Dutchess, Orange, or Westchester counties.
Let's also not forget that NYC is an incredibly walkable city for those able. The Garden is located at 34th St. and 7th Avenue., right in the middle of Midtown Manhattan which is also walking distance from Times Square, Hudson Yards and the Empire State Building. On game nights, its a very well-lit area making it perfectly safe for those who choose to travel on foot.
Finally, if all of this wasn't enough — there are plenty of hotels, restaurants and bars nearby for pre and post-game needs.
In short, MSG is arguably the easiest arena to reach in the United States via public transit, making it easy for fans to fill the stadium when they choose. Let's hope this is evident throughout the 2025-26 season.
