Will another loss for the New York Rangers cause permanent decline?

The New York Rangers could not get any points to advance them any closer in the wildcard race. At this point, the Rangers don’t have any winning momentum during a time of the NHL season where every game counts.

The New York Rangers traveled to play the Los Angeles Kings. The game ended with another loss for the Rangers and no forward movement to get closer to a wildcard spot. Every game counts for the Rangers, and they could not produce a win when needed.

Rangers don’t have any winning momentum. They just can’t get a winning streak going. They are more successful with their losing streak. On March 25th, the Rangers played the Kings at the Crypto.com Arena. Their execution in the game was like a rollercoaster; one minute they were up, and next, they were down. To be a playoff-worthy team, they have to stay up. They have to execute, make goals, and defend.

J.T. Miller barely managed to get a goal in the second period. He did, in fact, get one, but only after the referees had to review the play. Any goal for the Rangers is a good goal; fan are grateful for any goal they can get at this point. This particular one passed the goal line just by a smidge, awarding the Blueshirts their only point of the matchup. It would have been better if it was a confident goal, with the puck slamming into the netting, illuminating the eye. Teammates fist-bumped Miller all around because at least they got a goal.

The score then stayed stagnant with one across the boards for the Rangers. The Kings won with the score being 1-3. They have their winning streak going. The Rangers are in a rut. Since March 1st, they have had two wins to start the month, then four losses, then another two wins followed by three losses, then a single win and a loss. Will this dreadful rollercoaster ride for the Rangers be over, and will Rangers fans start to see consecutive wins?

It has been a long time since the Rangers won more than two games in a row. It was all the way back in November when they won three games in a row.

Mika Zibanejad and Vincent Trocheck spoke to the media after the loss. Both players know that every game matters and seemed very disappointed with the loss.

"It gets tiring … It’s hard to look at the positives … We played well enough to at least give us a chance to win … couldn’t get it done."

"We need every point at this point in the year … They all matter."

The team needs a spark, something to light them up and be able to show up to represent New York. The Wildcard race is quickly approaching; it’s now or never for the team to produce wins. No time like the present. The Blueshirts are currently tied with the New York Islanders. The team is on a big California road trip; they have two more games.

The next game will be against the Anaheim Ducks on March 28 at 10:00 p.m. EST. Another late game for Ranger Fans, who will stay up and hopefully witness the Rangers start their winning streak.
