Kenny’s Most Anticipated Rangers Games of 2014-2015

Hello Blueliners! Here at Blue Line Station the staff writers have decided to take on the challenge of telling you all of our most anticipated games of the upcoming 2014-2015 regular season! So to keep in with the trend I’m going to tell you mine below!

October 11th at Nationwide Arena vs the Columbus Blue Jackets: I picked this game because last season Ranger fans and Jackets fans both got to feel the intensity of a potential rivalry when Rick Nash made his return to Columbus. The Rangers are going to have to beat the Jackets as they are going to be one of the teams competing for the top spot in the Metropolitan division this coming season. If the Rangers can get into the mind of Columbus goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky early on, then they should have no trouble handling the Jackets.

November 11th at Madison Square Garden vs the Pittsburgh Penguins: I’m anticipating that the Rangers and the Penguins will be battling for the top spot in the division, much like they did during 2011-2012, most likely with the Blue Jackets on their tail. This will also be the first meeting between the two clubs since the Rangers ousted the Penguins in seven games during the Eastern Conference semi-final. Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin will be tough as always, but the Pens have made some significant changes so I’m unsure how to gauge them.

March 10th at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum vs the New York Islanders: There are a few reasons why this game is on my list, and one of them is the place. Like it or not, the Coliseum has tons of hockey history and is a huge part of Rangers history as well. This will be the last game the Rangers play at the Coliseum before the Islanders make the trip to their new home; the Barclay’s center in Brooklyn. This is also an important game because although they still don’t have much to speak for on defense the Islander will be an improved team next season. Besides all of that, the battle of New York is always a good time for everyone involved.

Sunday November 23rd against the Montreal Canadiens. The first meeting between these two clubs since Henrik Lundqvist and Dominic Moore put the Habs away on May 29th. The Canadiens will look to come into MSG and grab two points, which they usually do. However the Rangers will have something to say about that.

Thursday January 8th against the Los Angeles Kings: I really don’t care that much about this game as all the other writers and Ranger fans out there probably do. I’m still shaken up over the loss to the Kings in the Stanley Cup Final and I certainly don’t want to have to relive it when the boys go to the Staples Center in January.
