Hello New York Rangers fans! What’s better than a daily poll before we all head off to bed? Today’s poll will be short, today’s question is what is your favorite Rangers acquisition of this off-season for the Rangers? There are plenty of choices to choose from and I want to know what yours are!
Dan Boyle: The biggest name on the Rangers list of pick-ups this summer. Boyle is a 15 year veteran of the NHL, and brings exceptional experience to the Rangers line-up. He also has an incredible skill-set and an ability to sufficiently run a power play even at age 38. Boyle is a capable all around defense-man who is defensively responsible but also able to put up a decent amount of points during a year. He’s also capable of playing 20 minutes per night which is a lot to ask of any defense-man especially of one that’s his age.

Tanner Glass: Oh Tanner Glass, Glass was perhaps the most confusing signing of the summer for the Rangers, and he continues to be now. What Glass brings to the table is the ability to protect star players. Glass was eighth in the NHL in hits last season and obviously has no problem playing the body. It’s questionable why Glass received the pay-day that he did, but he’s part of the team now and he’s most likely here to stay.
Lee Stempniak: If Stempniak and Glass had their salaries changed around this whole thing would’ve made a lot more sense. Nonetheless, Stempniak is a 31-year-old veteran of the NHL and is a very capable third line depth forward. Stempniak is fast and can find the back of the net when he needs to which is crucial for any team; he is probably the most linear replacement for Benoit Pouliot and could be a very underrated pick-up this summer.
Matthew Lombardi: Lombardi is already the new whipping boy for Rangers fans and he has not even seen the ice at Madison Square Garden. Lombardi was the biggest surprise of the summer in my opinion. He’s a speedy, 32-year-old veteran center, who happens to be an expert penalty killer. He’s in big competition with J.T. Miller for a roster spot, but if he makes it then you can bet he’ll work hard for it and try to avoid injury (usually a problem for him).

Ryan Malone: Okay, maybe this one was the biggest surprise of the summer. Malone faced some legal issues which were all apparently taken care of because a couple of days ago the Rangers signed him to a contract. I would imagine that Malone would be competing with Glass for a spot but I’m not Alain Vigneault or his staff so I don’t really know.
Well Rangers fans, what do you think? Who would you call the biggest surprise of this off-season? Let us know by voting in the poll below!
