Welcome back to the Sunday edition of the Daily Dose. Here are the news we wanted to share with you, New York Rangers fans:

Halverson hopes to be the Number One for Team USA at World Juniors- NHL.COM

The future in net for the Rangers is already making a case to be the starting goaltender…for Team USA.

Brandon Halverson was part of the National Junior Evaluation Camp at Lake Placid, NY last week, and participated in hockey games which featured international teams from Finland and Sweden.

The Rangers second-round draft choice in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, staked his claim to the title with a strong showing. During the Evaluation Camp, he had an undefeated record of 2-0, in games he started. Earlier in the week, he split time in net, seeing action in three games.

I really want to show everyone that I can be the starting goalie

Halverson, playing with the “blue” squad for Team USA, allowed six goals on 55 shots faced. That resulted in a 4.11 goals against average and .891 save percentage.

However, in Team USA’s final two games against Team Finland, Halverson started and remained in both games. The result: two wins, a 2.32 GAA, and .906 save percentage. His second win was a 6-1 rout, with Halverson making 16 of 17 shots faced.

The next time these skaters will have an opportunity to showcase their talents for the coaching staff will be this December when the United States National Junior Selection Camp will get underway. After the team is finalized, they will fly to Helsinki, Finland, the site of the 2016 World Junior Championship.

Hagelin’s present situation in question?- TODAYSSLAPSHOT.COM

More from Rangers News

With yesterday’s announcement of Anaheim Ducks re-signing Jakob Silfverberg to a four-year extension worth $15 million, his fellow countryman is still out in the cold.

Former Rangers LW Carl Hagelin was dealt to the Ducks this past June. As of now, he remains unsigned by his new team.

It certainly doesn’t mean a deal won’t be done.

According to a July article on OCREGISTER.COM, Hagelin’s agent emailed a statement about the negotiations between the Ducks saying, “We are making progress”.

But, that was over a month ago. And no further information has been offered about Hagelin and a new deal.

However, this maybe all for not.

The Ducks organization might be prioritizing their RFA’s and getting the players they are most familiar with under contract before moving onto Hagelin.

Still, it begs the question, “Why hasn’t he been signed yet?”

They traded for Hagelin with struggling prospect Emerson Etem being sent the Rangers way. And Etem has already been signed to a one-year contract.

Again, it might not be nothing. Still, it would be curious to see if this situation lingers on.

And that’s the news for today. see you all net time!
