Jesper Fast

Previous Grade: B+

Jesper Fast has continued to do Jesper Fast things for the New York Rangers in his 30 games since his last report card. His reputation as a versatile player that is beloved by head coach Alain Vigneault stands strong.

Fast has seen anywhere between 18:53 and 6:31 of ice time this season. Proof to Vigneault’s tendency to use Fast in a variety of roles, depending on opponents. He still sees over 62% of his zone starts in his defensive end.

In turn, Fast’s offensive output has predictably slowed down from his early season pace. He has accumulated three goals and five assists after having 12 points in his first 26 games. The Rangers’ penalty kill has also taken a hit in recent months, with the team now ranked 13th.

He is a candidate to get traded at the deadline, partially due to the upcoming Expansion draft, until then he will continue to be a hometown favorite.

New Grade: B-
