The Center Concern

You will not convince me that the Rangers do not need a top six center. It’s arguable that the Rangers could get by with Mika Zibanejad and Kevin Hayes as their top two centers, but that isn’t the point. This isn’t a team that should be looking to get by, and the moves could do damage to two of the most importance pieces in the organization.

That’s not even considering the thought that Lias Andersson may be rushed into the NHL, or J.T. Miller will see his position changed. Sticking with the current center depth means placing three players in roles they have not played in before. I don’t see any way that’s an acceptable scenario.

Jeff Gorton still has time to make a move. However, I will not pretend to have any clue if he will make a move or not. He does strike me as a stealthy fellow, but he also may simply believe the Rangers are set. I sure hope it’s the former.
