Home opener rematch

As mentioned earlier, the last time the New York Rangers played against the Colorado Avalanche, it was for New York’s home opener. Unfortunately, Ranger fans did not leave Madison Square Garden happily.

The first goal of the game was scored by Matt Duchene, who is now playing for the Ottawa Senators. Roughly six minutes after, Mikko Rantanen scored on a power play. The first period was about halfway over, and the Rangers were already down by two.

Ultimately, they lost 4-2. Mika Zibanejad was responsible for the only two goals scored by New York. Kevin Shattenkirk, Mats Zuccarello, and Pavel Buchnevich each got assists as well. But, after Zibanejad scored his second goal, tying the game, things went downhill.

There was one goal in the second period, Tyson Barrie putting Colorado up by one. This was his second point of the night, along with an assist on the second goal. Finally, the Rangers’ fate was sealed with a Gabriel Landeskog goal in the third period.

This was a terrible game for Ranger fans to watch, and it began a string of insufferable games for practically the entire month of October. Can they get the Avalanche back for this game?

It remains to be seen, but now would be a perfect time to establish consistency and get revenge on the first team to beat them this season.
