New York Rangers: Five fatal mistakes Alain Vigneault made

It was always someone else’s fault

The Rangers had many problems this year. As I mentioned before, Vigneault definitely played a role in the Rangers demise.

However, he never once stepped up and took blame for the struggles. In fact, after the disastrous season finale in Philadelphia, Vigneault went on to say that coaching was one of the team’s strong suits.

That is just one example of a long list of pointing the blame on someone else. He even said that Lundqvist, arguably the teams most valuable asset, was the problem for a short while.

A coach needs to be responsible for his team and Vigneault was not. It could be something that Jeff Gorton is looking for in the next head coach.
