Mike Cammalleri

The days of Mike Cammalleri being good at hockey are over.

The journeyman forward had a really solid NHL career over his 15-year career. He broke the 80 points mark twice (06-07 and 08-09), had another five seasons with 45 points or more and has stuck around and has built a solid role with pretty much every team he’s played for.

The problem is, he’s regressed to the point where he doesn’t belong in the league anymore.

The rapid decline started in his last year with the New Jersey Devils in 2016-17, when head coach John Hynes decided to make him a healthy scratch for a handful of games to end the season. Cammalleri finished the campaign with just 10 goals and 21 assists.

He then signed a one-year contract with the Kings in free agency, the team he began his career with. They traded him to the Oilers straight up for Jussi Jokinen after 15 games. When he got to Edmenton, he didn’t do much either, only tallying four goals and 18 assists in 51 games.

Cammalleri doesn’t have the skill required to play in the top six or the skating ability and defensive prowess to fit in the bottom six. He’s a shell of himself as a hockey player and he shouldn’t see another bit of ice time in North America.
