New York Rangers Stock Market: Showing their true colors
Up: Mika Zibanejad
Mika Zibanejad has finally come into his own as a player.
Mika Zibanejad’s struggles on the Rangers haven’t been entirely his fault. Since he’s been on the team, he has sustained a broken leg and a concussion. Both injuries have caused him to miss a significant amount of time over the past two seasons.
Aside from a concussion scare from a practice early this season, Zibanejad has been able to remain healthy. In the past seven games, Zibanejad has tallied one goal and seven assists for eight points. All of these points have come in pairs, with the eight points being recorded over four total games.
The trade initially sent Derick Brassard to Ottawa in exchange for Zibanejad looks better and better with each passing day. When healthy, Zibanejad has been a wonderful addition to the Rangers. Though he played only 56 games in his first year with the Rangers, he recorded 14 goals and 23 assists for 37 points.
His second season showed a significant increase in games played with 72 and he tallied 27 goals, 20 assists for 47 points. So far this year he has played in 28 contests and has recorded eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points.
Zibanejad showed that he had the capability to be a high scoring player on the Rangers. Even though the Rangers are having a down year, he appears to be having his best season yet, both health-wise and play wise. Hopefully, he can remain healthy and show us what he’s fully capable of.
