My three stars of the game

  1. Alexandar Georgiev – Does it really come as any surprise that the 23-year-old is crowned my first star? It shouldn’t. Georgiev loves playing against the Leafs and he was sensational again, stopping a barrage of shots to keep his team in the game and set them up for a big two points. The netminder has now got 99 saves in the last 101 shots Toronto have fired at him, which is a ridiculous stat.
  2. Lias Andersson – On a night where the whole team put out a hell of an effort, Andersson made himself stand out, particularly in the first two periods. He was lively in the offensive zone, making plays and he also got back to help out in the defensive zone, putting his body in the way of a couple of shots. Arguably one of his better games as a New York Ranger.
  3. Pavel Buchnevich – This is a tough one as the likes of Brendan Lemieux, Vinni Lettieri and Brady Skjei all had solid games, but Buchnevich has had a hot hand recently and that continued Saturday with his sixth goal in his last 10 games. The Russian had five shots on the night and he’s starting to add some much-needed consistency to his game.

Too early to give up on Lias Andersson. dark. Next
