What the New York Rangers can learn from the Boston blueprint
The Boston Bruins are a juggernaut in the NHL and their blueprint is an excellent one for the New York Rangers to study.
It is proving to be a long road back to the top for the New York Rangers who are currently rebuilding from the ground floor up in order to become a powerhouse again.
And, as they approach the latter stages of this rebuild, it would make sense for the Blueshirts to study the Boston Bruins blueprint.
After all, the Bruins have been a relevant force in the National Hockey League for a considerable amount of time now, making the postseason in all but two of the last twelve seasons dating back to 2007-08.

They won the Stanley Cup in 2010-11 before making the Stanley Cup Final again in 2012-13, although they failed to qualify for the playoffs in both 2014-15 and 2015-16.
However, after retooling on the fly rather than tearing everything down, the Bruins have become one of the true heavyweights in the NHL again, making the Stanley Cup Final last year only to lose to the St. Louis Blues.
It wouldn’t be surprising if Boston made another deep postseason run this year, and they are set up and built to win and contend for the foreseeable future.
Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney, who was crowned General Manager of the Year last season, has done an outstanding job of rebuilding around a core group of players while keeping his team competitive year in and year out.
As such, Rangers General Manager Jeff Gorton should carefully study the groundwork laid down by Sweeney in Beantown.
