2. Henrik Lundqvist

This will spark a lot of emotion I’m sure.

The argument to trade Henrik Lundqvist is an interesting one and one that will cause a lot of debate on both sides.

When you look at it with all the emotion fully removed, parting company with Lundqvist makes perfect sense.

Yes, it will be painful to see the face of this franchise depart, but the front office need to do what is best for this storied franchise with the long-term picture in mind.

After all, the Rangers now boast two young stud goalies in Alexandar Georgiev and Igor Shesterkin, a duo that can come together to form an elite goaltending tandem for the Blueshirts for years to come.

Shesterkin has shown over a six-game sample size that he’s ready for whatever the NHL has to throw at him, while we have seen enough to be convinced that Georgiev is a very good starter in the majors.

As such, it is time to wave goodbye to the past and usher in the future by convincing Lundqvist that a trade is in the best interests of all parties.

I love Lundqvist and he deserves his chance to go to a contender and win a Stanley Cup, while the Rangers need to look to the future and trading one of their two young goalie studs would be a mistake.

The day Henrik Lundqvist no longer pulls on that famous New York Rangers jersey will be a sad day indeed, but with where this organization is going it is a day that now needs to arrive. And soon.

Verdict: Trade
