3. Alexandar Georgiev

Given what I said in the previous slide, my answer on this one will be obvious.

And let’s start there: Alexandar Georgiev should not be traded.

For starters, I don’t think he would command the haul of goods that many fans think he would in a trade, with the rest of the NHL well aware of the Rangers’ current cap situation.

Plus, there is enough of a sample size to go on to suggest that Georgiev can become a very, very good starter in the NHL and he’s still only 24.

Yes, the Blueshirts will need to pay Georgiev in the summer once he becomes a restricted free agent, and the goalie will command a lot more than his current $792,500 cap hit.

But just think about this. If the Rangers can trade Henrik Lundqvist, then they would be committed to a goaltending tandem of Georgiev and Igor Shesterkin.

That is a pretty exciting thought.

For me, with where this franchise wants to go, they are much better off marrying themselves to two stud goalies that they can nurture and develop.

After all, you need elite goaltending to win championships and the Rangers would have that if they kept Georgiev to give Shesterkin some serious competition.

Verdict: No Trade
