It was a crazy Trade Deadline in the NHL and the New York Rangers played a major role in all the drama.
Expected to be sellers entering Monday, the New York Rangers flipped the script by re-signing Chris Kreider to a seven-year, $45,500,000 contract.
That changed the outlook of the market and also made it clear that the front office feel they are getting closer to becoming contenders again.
The Blueshirts also dealt defenseman Brady Skjei to the Carolina Hurricanes for a 2020 first-round pick.

While another first-round pick is vital, the move will also give the Rangers more flexibility when it comes to thrashing out deals with their bevy of pending free agents in the off-season.
There was a darker twist in the tail, however, with Rangers President John Davidson announcing that forward Pavel Buchnevich and phenom goalie Igor Shesterkin were involved in a car crash in Brooklyn on Sunday.
Buchnevich is considered day-to-day and the forward missed the game against the New York Islanders on Tuesday, while Shesterkin has a misplaced rib fracture and will be evaluated again in a couple of weeks.
As a result, the Blueshirts decided not to do anything with Henrik Lundqvist and The King will now have the chance to really go out on a high should his long association with this storied franchise really come to an end in the summer.
All in all, it was another interesting and potentially defining day in the history of the New York Rangers, and we had some takeaways from the Trade Deadline.
