A family incentive

Here’s one scary thought.  Barron’s younger brother Justin is a right handed shooting defenseman who is eligible for the draft this summer and is expected to go mid to late first round.  Is it possible that Morgan will wait to become a free agent so that he can sign with the team that drafts his little brother?

The opportunities for an NHL player to determine his own destiny and get a chance to play with a sibling are rare and this could be his only chance.  It’s worth considering and you have to believe that the Rangers are well aware of the possiblity.

All indications are that the Rangers are handling the situation very tactfully. As reported, they did make an offer, but are not pressuring him in any way.   One sure way to get Morgan Barron under contract would be for them to draft his brother.  If he is still around when the Rangers use their second first round pick (from Carolina via Toronto) don’t be surprised if they call Justin Barron’s name.
