New York Rangers roster shaken up

The New York Rangers will be without their primary contributor on offense as Panarin takes a leave of absence to deal with the accusations levied against him. The team will also be without Kakko for the second straight game as he currently resides on the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol list. This is in addition both Filip Chytil and Jacob Trouba who are both out recovering from long term injuries. Though, both did skate yesterday before the team’s practice.

With all of the absences, the Rangers practice line up shaped up as follows.

The only change that may be expected would be if Kakko is cleared to play. Teams have until 5pm on game day’s to report their results, so word on his availability would not be confirmed until closer to game time.  Should that occur, Jonny Brodzinski would most likely sit.  The only question then being whether the right wing slots in on the second or third lines. That’s a philosophical decision of wanting more balance through the four lines or more power in the top six.

Igor Shesterkin will be in goal.

Coach Quinn spoke about testing the Rangers mental toughness

There is no doubt that the New York Rangers are dealing with adversity. Between injury, health and extra curricular caused absences the team has its hands full. However, their opponent, at least in the short term, may have it even worse. The Rangers will again be looking to take advantage of a less than full Philadelphia Flyers squad.
