For New York Rangers fans, the first Beanpot Monday of 2025 had extra buzz this year with some familiar faces in the mix. Boston College steamrolled past Northeastern 8-2 in the semifinals, as several future Blueshirts made strides on both sides of the ice.

BC started quickly, getting on the board 46 seconds in with a quick wrist shot. Northeastern tried to answer with a nice tip-in by freshman Ben Poitras, but the Eagles were too much, pulling away with five goals in the second period alone.

Northeastern's Jackson Dorrington — who the Blueshirts acquired on Friday night with J.T. Miller in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks — scored for the Huskies tonight. It's been a whirlwind weekend for Dorrington, who became a Ranger member alongside Erik Brannstrom. In return, New York sent the Canucks Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, and a 2025 top-13 protected first-round pick.

Meanwhile, at Boston College, Rangers' 2023 third-round selection and two-time American World Junior gold medalist Drew Fortescue picked up an assist. He found Golden Goal hero and Nashville Predators prospect Teddy Stiga in stride, putting BC up 1-0 less than a minute into the contest.

Yet the best highlight came from another BC prospect — the Rangers 2023 first-round pick, American World Junior hero in 2024 and 25, and Hobey Baker Award nominee Gabe Perreault. The countdown is on until this future star arrives on Broadway.

Perreault had an unreal assist, threading the puck through to Andre Gasseau, a Boston Bruins prospect, who finished it off to make it 6-1 for the Eagles. Perrault was also on for goals by linemates and WJC teammates Ryan Leonard (WSH) and 2025 projected first overall pick James Hagens.

Back to the game, BC dominated, keeping Northeastern on their heels for most of the night. After going up 4-1 in the second period, they tacked on more in the third. Despite a late push from Northeastern's Dylan Hryckowian, who cut the lead to 6-2, it was a BC party night.

It was another reminder of the next wave of Rangers looking bright, with Perreault, Fortescue, and Dorrington showing they'll soon be ready to shine bright under the Blueshirts' banner.
