NYR Hoisting the Cup Depends on FERDA
FERDA will Determine if the New York Rangers Win the Cup in 2024
There are a lot of things that come into play when you win. Winning the Stanley Cup is a whole other conversation by itself. You need overall Team Health. More often than not, you need Timing and Puck Luck on your side.. And You Need Team Harmony...just to name a few.
When it’s all said and done though, it is usually FERDA who will have the final say in all of this.
Ferda? What’s FERDA? Who is FERDA?
FERDA is how the New York Rangers must play in order to Lift Lord Stanley’s Cup.
F = Faceoffs

FACEOFFS
Faceoffs are a key stat for me. As you know I’m all about gaining the puck off the draw and controlling the game as much as possible, rather than chasing after it. We know that field position is so important, and Faceoffs definitely factor into how the game plays out. The Rangers Team is currently winning 51.6% of their Faceoffs in the Playoffs. Which is Awesome.

ENERGY
Teams as well as Individuals, need Energy to succeed. The New York Rangers Must Bring Back that Level 6 Intensity and Energy that we saw in Games #1 and #2. Both from a Team standpoint as well as from All Individuals. Positive Energy is contagious, as is Belief, as well as Confidence. Get Back to What Got Ya Here Boys.

RESILIENCE / RATIO
Not every game will go as planned. The true heart of a Champion knows this, understands this and fights through this. Stick to the Gameplan and Play within Yourself.
Key Ratios in the NHL are the Power Play % and the Penalty Kill %.
The New York Rangers are clipping at a 30.8% on the Power Play right now in the Playoffs. They move the puck around really well, and overall can get pucks towards the net, which allows for good things to happen.
The Rangers Penalty Kill is at 91.9%, in the Playoffs. Nuf Said here.

DEFENSE
We all know that Defence Wins Championships. The Rangers are the Deepest they have been in this position for some time now. Box Out Boys. Keep ‘em to the outside and keep laying the body on ‘em, every chance you get.
Forwards actually back-checking and skating hard to defend their man, is nice to see. Forwards, helping out in the D-Zone have contributed to a more spirited and engaged Team, which has translated into less overall Grade-A scoring chances for the opposition.
The New York Rangers Team Defense will actually be the determining factor if this team makes the Run for the Cup that we are all hoping for.

AGGRESSIVE
Aggressive Hockey is Back in Town. Intimidation is a big part of Hockey, and the opposition should have a little bit of fear when they play you. They should have a little bit of fear say, when they stand in front of your goalie. They should have a little bit of fear say, when entering your Zone or cutting across your blueline, (say hello to NYR #8…Ka-Boom).
The opposition must pay the price, in each and every one of these situations.

Oh, and don’t forget about the O-Zone. Sometimes, you need to bang and crash the net, to score goals in this league.
The Rangers need to continue to push people around by using their grit and sandpaper, in order to succeed in May and June. It is called Controlled Aggression. It is that time of year when you must hit absolutely everything in your path. Continuous hits over the course of a series brings upon physical and mental fatigue, which leads to mistakes, which leads to goals. I know it tough to do, but it’s a non-negotiable item from here on out.
