The New York Rangers’ 2024-25 Training Camp is underway.

It began on Wednesday, September 18 with off-ice testing. The team then had its first on-ice session — Thursday, September 19 — at the Madison Square Garden Training Center in Tarrytown. Training Camp will run until Sunday, October 6 and includes six preseason games.

The Rangers begin their preseason schedule on Sept. 22 at Boston, followed by play against fellow-city rival on Sept. 24 versus the New York Islanders, then Sept. 26 vs. Boston. Preseason play continues on Sept. 30 with travel to the New Jersey Devils, followed by hosting them on Oct. 1. The Rangers finally close out preseason play on October 4 at the New York Islanders.

Last year, they were the Presidents' Trophy winners on the strength of a 114-point regular season, breezing by the Washington Capitals and defeating the Carolina Hurricanes to reach an Eastern Conference final against the Florida Panthers.

But that's where it all fell apart for the Rangers. The New York Rangers were eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Florida Panthers with a 2-1 loss in Game six of the Eastern Conference Final.

This year, it is time for the Rangers to go further, And that starts at Training Camp.

The Rangers released their camp roster to the public just two days before training started.

Of this roster, there's three that us here at Blue Line Station have previously gone in depth on.

Professional Tryouts have been extended to two players. Adam Erne and Madison Bowey will attend the ongoing-Rangers camp on these agreements as the Blueshirts look for a way to get some possible depth additions.

In addition, left wing Brennan Othmann is four years removed from being drafted 16th overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. He has reached a critical point in his development. This year's camp will show whether he's secured a spot in the forwards rotation or if the team is going to move on from him.

With the first day of on-ice play wrapped up and training camp continuing, where the Rangers go from here is of the utmost importance. And building off of the Presidents' Trophy from last year, building off the success of the Presidents' Trophy from last year is the most important.
