The New York Rangers recently held development camp, ushering in the next generation of Blueshirts.
Thirty two players participated in the early July event, including 20 forwards, nine defenseman and three goaltenders. Ages range between the players from 17 years old, all the way up to 23 years old. The number 32 is interesting but also expected after this year's draft, as last year Director of Player Development Jed Ortmeyer only invited 29.
Here's a look at three noteworthy names that participated in this year's camp.
Gabe Perreault
Already a New York Ranger and having played in five NHL games this year after being taken as the No. 23 overall pick back in 2021 — right-wing Gabe Perreault attending the development camp makes sense simply because he's only 20 years old.
Perreault won back-to-back gold medals with the United States at the 2024 and 2025 IIHF World Junior Championships, finishing in second in scoring at the 2025 tournament with 10 points on three points and seven assists. And while he hasn't tallied a point yet for the Rangers, there were a few close calls for him as the Blueshirts ended their season early in 2025, with a lot of fans questioning then-head coach Peter Laviolette's decision to healthy scratch Perreault.
In videos seen circulating since camp, Perreault was shown acting as a leader to the younger guys on the ice and working closely with Ortmeyer.

Evan Passmore
Fresh off being selected by President and General Manager Chris Drury at No. 171, defenseman Evan Passmore made his appearance at camp mere days after standing on stage at the Peacock Theater.
Passmore comes in at 6'5" and 212 pounds, and turns 19-years-old this coming December. He's described as having impressive range and is supposed to be highly skilled in breaking up chances by separating players from the puck and shutting plays down entirely.
It's good to see that the Rangers are already prioritizing his development this summer.
Callum Tung
Goaltender Callum Tung may be attending the camp, but he is another player already active with theHartford Wolf Pack and appeared in 16 games as a freshman with UConn, posting a record of 10-4-1 with a .933 save percentage and a 2.01 goals-against average.
While one-ice sessions took place July 1-2 for the annual Development Camp at MSG Training Center, the Rangers' media department have only recently started circulating relevant content.
