The New York Rangers had a lopsided month of October. It was a month of disappointment and amazement, all at the same time.

Now, as the month is getting deeper into November, let's look back at who was the leading Rangers of last month, and if they can keep it up this month.

Igor Shesterkin

The best player of October, as well as probably the rest of this season, was Igor Shesterkin. In this game, you live and die by the goaltender, except in this case.

Shesterkin was 3-4-2, which would look like a losing record. But, venture down the stat line and you see why this situation is a bit different. He had a goals against average of 2.32, and saved .916 of the shots he faced for the month.

That would be above-average numbers on just about any other team in the NHL, but the Rangers offensive woes are ruining Shesterkin's year.

Adam Fox

The Rangers defensive unit has been far from perfect. But, Adam Fox continues to be the same security blanket for this franchise, and it is even more evident this season. With a trio of goals and six assists for nine points, he led all Rangers skaters for points.

Alongside new defensive partner Vladislav Gavrikov, the pairing had some growing pains. As of now, it seems like things have smoothed out, but it is not perfect.

J.T. Miller

J.T. Miller opened the season playing hurt, and it showed. The first few games of the 2025-26 season were rough for No. 8, and the captain's welcome we were all expecting to celebrate went a bit mute.

Miller got healthier, finishing the month with three goals and four assists, just behind Fox in points for the team lead. If the Rangers want to start having better results, their captain needs to bring up his game to another level. The easiest way to lead is by example.
