The Edmonton Oilers know they have one of the best hockey players in the NHL and of all time in Connor McDavid. Their team captain is a five-time Art Ross Trophy winner, a Conn Smythe winner, and knocking on 1,000 career points before he plays 700 NHL games.
The New York Rangers (12-5-1) will be taking him and the rest of the Edmonton Oilers (10-9-2) in. a rapidly approaching game on the evening of Nov. 23.

Connor McDavid
McDavid has quite the resume. According to NHL.com, McDavid scored 123 points (44 goals, 79 assists) in 2021-22, the highest single season point total by an Edmonton skater since Mark Messier — who later became a New York Ranger — in 1989-90 (129 points; 45 goals, 84 assists). He became the seventh player in NHL history to win the Art Ross Trophy at least four times. He also became the fourth player in Oilers history with at least 10 assists in a playoff series.
Additionally, McDavid became the fifth-fastest player in NHL history to reach 900 points. He clinched the achievement in only 602 games on Jan. 2, 2024. He also became the fourth player in NHL history to get at least 100 assists in a season.
McDavid finished the 2024 playoffs with 42 points (eight goals, 34 assists) in 25 games. He received 16 of the 17 first-place votes to became the sixth player on the losing team to persevere win the Conn Smythe Trophy.
Recently on Nov. 14, 2024, McDavid got his 1,000th NHL point on a second-period goal in Edmonton's 3-2 overtime win against the Nashville Predators at Rogers Place.
For the 2024-25 campaign so far, he has played in all 18 games with 25 points from his nine goals and 16 assists. He leads the Oilers in assists and is their second-leading scorer behind teammate Leon Draisaitl.
Not to mention, he's a five-time NHL First All-Star Team selection.
