The 2025 NHL Trade Deadline is over, and all eyes shift back onto the race for the playoffs. For the New York Rangers, their first order of business is taking on the Ottawa Senators.
The new-look New York Rangers head to Canada’s national capital to battle the Ottawa Senators. At the deadline, the Rangers did add defensive help with Carson Soucy, but they also lost Reilly Smith, while trading Ryan Lindgren and Jimmy Vesey earlier this week for veteran Calvin de Haan and Juuso Parssinen.
The Ottawa Senators (31-25-5) will host the Rangers (31-26-5) on Saturday, March 8, with the Senators coming off a victory and the Blueshirts a defeat.
Records and recent transactions aside, Tim Stutzle is obviously the opposing team's player to watch ahead of the March 8th matchup.
Tim Stutzle
If NHL fans are being honest, the Ottawa Senators are making quite the strong playoff push this season, and a good amount of that success can be attributed to the play of their forward Stutzle.
Stutzle extended his point streak to 13 consecutive games with a game-winning goal in overtime of a 4-3 win against Chicago on Wednesday.

Stutzle's goal marked his 20th of the season, and in doing so, became the fourth German player in league history to have three or more 20-goal campaigns. He currently leads the team with 64 points across 44 assists.
Adding fuel to the fire is the face that the Viersen, Germany native has recorded two goals and three assists in his last three games, and tallied at least a point in every game since Jan. 26
Prior to entering the league, Stutzle spent his developmental years playing forward in his native Germany and debuted with Mannheim in Deutsche Eishockey Liga, the country's top professional league, in 2019-20. A fun fact about the left-hander is that when the Senators chose him with the No. 3 pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, the election was announced by "Jeopardy!" host and former Ottawa resident Alex Trebek.
