Happy Thursday, New York Rangers fans!

Here are some news around the NHL that might tickle your fancy:

Bruins Vs. Canadiens in 2016 Winter Classic- NHL.COM

For the 910th time, two historic teams will meet in the eighth edition of the Bridgestone Winter Classic, the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens. The annual outdoor showcase will be held on January 1st. On December 31st, the Alumni game will be held, bringing back legends of the two teams. One more look at Ray Bourque and Cam Neely for Boston, and hopefully Patrick Roy and Saku Koivu for the Canadiens. You never know who is going to show up, but is always good to see the players of the past lace it up again.

The Winter Classic has become one of the most coveted events in the NHL season, behind the Stanley Cup Final and Playoffs of course. The game returns to Massachuesetts for the second time in its history. Previously, historic Fenway Park, home of the MLB’s Red Sox hosted the event in 2010. This year, it will be Gillete Stadium’s turn to showcase the event. Of course, this is the home of the NFL’s four-time Super Bowl Champions New England Patriots.

If you missed it, the official press conference was broadcast over NHL.COM with the representatives of the two teams met with members of the media, under a warm and sunny New England day.

Coincidentally, it was the first day of the Patriots opening training camp, and commissioner Gary Bettman couldn’t help himself by dropping a little nod to the on-going “Deflategate” scandal. Thankfully, Patriots owner Robert Kraft saved the awkward moment and delivered a well-thought out and positive speech, keeping the topic centered around one of the NHL’s premier events in the regular season.

A little bit of the chess match may have started. At the press conference, one present player from the Canadiens was seen representing. For the Bruins, Patrice Bergeron, Torey Krug, and recently acquired Kevin Hayes were on hand.

We look forward to another great hosting of the New Year’s Day hockey event!

Own “Miracle On Ice” history- THEHOCKEYNEWS.COM

If you have ever seen Miracle On Ice the movie and wanted a memorable piece from their improbable 1980 triumph of the much favored Soviet Union Red Army team at Lake Placid, well this may be your chance.

Jim Craig, the famous Team USA goalie from that game, is putting up for sale his Olympic items from that team.

That includes his hockey jersey, skates, goalie mask, and his gold medal after Team USA defeated Sweden in 1980. And, all this could be yours for a small price of $5.7 million.

Well, that is what Craig is hoping someone would be willing to pay. You may see and bid on these items online at LELANDS.COM.

Don’t fully understand why these items cannot be donated to either the USA or NHL Hockey Hall of Fame, permanently. Even the puck from that game represents a significant event in hockey history. But, he is the owner of the items and may do what he wants with them.

So save up your milk money, break open the piggy bank, or pray you get a big inheritance to make a move on these pieces of history.
