An identity that is growing within the Rangers these past few seasons is their “never quit” attitude. Just when you think the team is out of a contest, they find a way to tip the scales in their favor, and surprise the heck out of you.

The game versus the Minnesota Wild last season was a perfect example.

The Rangers were outshot in the contest, 30-20 and trailed 3-0 to open the third period. That’s when the Rangers started chipping away and erased three-goal deficits twice.

The team scored four goals in the third period to even the game, 4-4. Then, the Zuccarello show took over. He leads the rush down the other end of the ice, dumping the puck behind Wild’s netminder Kuemper.

Derick Brassard retrieves the puck below the red line of the offensive zone. He backhands a pass to Zuccarello, who was skating in front of the goal crease.

With no hesitation, Zuccarello one-times the puck past the goalie, surprising everyone in the process.

It would become the game-winning goal, and the Hobbit’s first of the season.
