New York Rangers Assign Three More to Hartford Wolfpack

The Rangers announced yesterday that the club has assigned forwards Alex Belzile and Jake Leschyshyn as well as defenseman Ben Harpur to the American Hockey League's Hartford Wolf Pack.

The New York Rangers have assigned three more players to the Hartford Wolfpack as a part of their next round of cuts.

New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced yesterday — Sept. 28 — that the club has assigned forwards Alex Belzile and Jake Leschyshyn as well as defenseman Ben Harpur to the American Hockey League's Hartford Wolf Pack.

Belzile was signed as a free agent by the Rangers on July 1, 2023. He previously played for the Montreal Canadiens.

Leschyshy was claimed by the Rangers off of waivers in January of 2023.

Finally, Harpur was originally selected by the Ottawa Senators in the fourth round, 108th overall, in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. His first year with the Rangers was for the 2022-23 season.

The trio will likely join goaltenders Talyn Boyko and Hugo Ollas at the Hartford Wolfpack who were also recently cut from Training Camp.

The Wolf Pack’s 2024 training camp begins today, on Sunday, Sept. 29

First round of cuts were made previously — including Maxim Barbashev, Carter Berger, Brett Budgell, Jonny Evans, Blake Hillman, Blade Jenkins, Case McCarthy, Blake McLaughlin, Jake Murray, Chase Pauls, and Ryan Siedem. The 11 were also assigned to the Wolfpack.

Most recently, goaltenders Talyn Boyko and Hugo Ollas were also assigned to the AHL affiliate.

The Rangers have 43 players remaining in Training Camp, with the breakdown being as follows:

The Wolf Pack will open the home portion of their 2024-25 schedule on Friday, Oct. 18, at the XL Center against the Springfield Thunderbirds; puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. The Rangers next preseason game is tomorrow, Monday, Sept. 30, against the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center.
