The New York Rangers just released their Winter Classic sweaters, and wow, they are unforgettable. New York, who hit a home run earlier this year when they unleashed their blue Centennial Season uniforms, is once again recognizing their 100th season with these threads.
This jersey is white, and its layout strongly resembles the Centennial sweater. It includes blue stair-step lettering across the front, featuring the city name.
A red apple with the letters NYR appears on the shoulder, a nod to New York City's nickname, The Big Apple. Blue numbering appears on the sleeve, just above the blue-white-red-white-blue striping pattern. The collar is red, and red, white, and blue striping runs horizontally around the waist.

The shorts are red, with white-blue-white trim going vertically up the sides and horizontally at the hem. A classic version of the Rangers' famed shield logo appears on the left side, and the socks feature a similar striping pattern to the sleeves.
New York Rangers' Winter Classic uniform is an instant hit
There are two reasons why this uniform works. For one, the way it complements the Centennial look, giving the Blueshirts an inverse of those blue alternates they have been wearing. Another reason is that, because it's complementary, they didn't deviate from their color scheme, unlike the team's navy-blue alternates.
One of the biggest concerns out there in the lead-up to these uniform unveilings is that there is always the possibility that they're a miss. Sometimes, teams and their uniform manufacturer try something ambitious, and it's instantly forgettable, but that's far from the case here.
Overall, it was an awesome job from all involved in the design process to put the best possible uniform on the ice when the Winter Classic comes to Florida for the first time. And if these uniforms look good in photoshoots, chances are, they will look even better on the ice, where it matters.
Rangers fans won't need to wait long if they're raring to see these uniforms take the ice. The Winter Classic will take place on Jan. 2, 2026, at loanDepot Park in Miami, home of the MLB's Miami Marlins, at 8:00 p.m. The Rangers will take on the Florida Panthers, who have got some new uniforms themselves for the occasion.
There is a good chance that, should these uniforms look great under the lights, it won't be the last time the Blueshirts wear them. Expect a few more appearances during the later months of the season as the Rangers seek a return to the playoffs.
