Another step towards the start of the season is the long-awaited Rangers Training Camp.

Earlier this month, it was the prospects taking the ice in Traverse City, now it’s the big boys’ turns. Training camp started yesterday with all of the team taking their medical examinations.

Afterwards, head coach Alain Vigneault addressed the media for the first official team press conference. courtesy of @NYRangers, here are some quotes from the bench boss:

The first little bit of anxiety for fans was this quote:

We’ll be anxiously awaiting the outcome of these players. Could be nothing, or might be a little something. We all find out in the coming days.

Vigneault added this bit objective about the upcoming season:

Zuccarello gets new living arrangement- NY.CURBED.COM

A day after teammate Derick Brassard paid a handsome price tag of $4.1 million for his New York dwelling, Mats Zuccarello wasn’t going to be outdone and purchased his own real estate.

His new condominium, which we will nickname the Shire for him, cost Zuccarello close to $1.0 million less than Brassard. It is 1,228-square-feet with two bedrooms, and two-baths. And looking at the pictures of both players’ new homes, they just make your jaw drop and eyes pop-out.

Hey, if you got the means, use them! Now, who’s going to hold the first house-warming party?

Another hockey player will be having a new home, but it won’t be in North America.

Dany Heatley will be packing for a long trip to Europe this season. It was announced yesterday that he will be playing in the German League, Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) this upcoming season.

His new team, the Nurnberg Ice Tigers, tweeted his joining on tweeter:

In so many words, @NHLonNBCSports labeled Heatley’s departure the end:

At age 34, it may not be.

Robert Mayer-USA TODAY Sports

Sure, he’s been through five teams in his NHL career, experiencing ups and downs along the way, including a tragic off-ice accident early in his career with the old Atlanta Thrashers franchise, but he still has years left.

Look at the agelss wonder Jaromir Jagr. He’s played for eight different teams, including a brief career in the KHL. And, he’s 43-years-old.

I am not saying that Heatley is like Jagr, but never count a man out till he’s called it a career.

And, those are the stories we wanted to share with you, heading into the weekend.

Have a safe and fun two days off. We will be back tomorrow for another edition.

Talk to you all later!
